Emotional Wellness

Postpartum depression along with other perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, effect up to 1 in 5 birthing people. You are not alone. Finding compassionate, knowledgeable therapists and truama-informed support during your pregnancy or postpartum recovery, is easy at Ann Arbor Birth and Family. Your mental health and emotional wellness is our priority.

Pregnancy, birth, and postpartum adjustment aren’t always the joyful, glowing experiences that advertisements and Instagram feeds make them out to be. And the addition of each new family member creates a significant period of adjustment for everyone involved. Even under normal circumstances, new parents may struggle with changes in personal confidence, relationships, professional roles, body image, and managing conflicting priorities. Fortunately, short-term counseling can be of great benefit to process these challenges and stressors, so that you can make this adjustment with as much confidence and ease as possible.

When pregnancy and the postpartum period are complicated by trauma, loss, medical challenges, difficult family dynamics, or mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, or bipolar disorder, parents may need even more comprehensive support. Our associates provide expert mental health services to help you restore emotional balance and well-being, supporting you and your family to move forward with greater stability, confidence, and connection. We’re ready to listen to your story, assess your needs, and collaborate with you to develop and implement a plan that will help you to feel better.
